Conservation and education at the heart of what we do
At Pettitts Adventure Park, we believe that every visit is an opportunity to inspire. From lemurs to reptiles, Horses to exotic birds, our park is more than just fun—it’s a place where children and families can learn about the natural world and the importance of protecting it.
We believe learning should be hands-on, exciting, and unforgettable. That’s why our conservation and education program is designed to spark curiosity in visitors of all ages.
We offer:
- Interactive talks and animal encounters led by our knowledgeable keepers
- School visits and tailored workshops linked to our Hedgehog conservation
- Activity sheets and family-friendly facts that help turn a fun day out into a learning adventure
hedgehogs
Did you know that Hedgehogs are on the ‘red list’ and are vulnerable to extinction?!
Here at Pettitts we have been working on our Hedgehog area in conjunction with 2 local hedgehog rescues; Hattie’s Hedgehog Rescue based in nearby Gorleston and Hodge Lodge based here in Reedham.
Hattie’s and Hodge Lodge rescue will be on hand various days throughout the season to interact with all our visitors answering questions and giving the children some examples of how they can support hedgehogs in their gardens.
Down in our hedgehog village you will find the home of our resident hedgehog “Hedgie” and our conservation hut.
Explore the conservation hut for information and learn all about hedgehogs, the dangers they face and what you can do to help them.
There are some interactive learning features for children as well as some colouring/activity sheets plus lots of leaflets to take away.
Every hedgehog matters. With just a little care and awareness, we can help reverse their decline and ensure that future generations grow up knowing the joy of spotting a hedgehog in the wild.
Be sure to visit our Hedgehog Village when you visit Pettitts Animal Adventure Park.

Supporting local wildlife
At Pettitts Animal Adventure Park, we’re passionate about protecting not only the animals in our care, but also the wildlife that lives just outside our gates. From hedgehogs and frogs to bees and butterflies, local species need our help more than ever.
Wildlife is struggling due to habitat loss, pollution, and climate change, but the good news is, there’s so much we can all do.
how we support local wildlife at pettitts:
- Wildlife-friendly spaces: We’ve created areas across the park designed to attract native species, including wildflower patches for pollinators and quiet spaces for birds and small mammals.
- No pesticides or herbicides: We avoid harmful chemicals that can damage ecosystems and poison wildlife.
- Nest boxes and bug hotels: These provide safe spaces for birds, bats, hedgehogs, insects, and amphibians to shelter and breed.
- Seasonal hedgehog shelters: Designed to give these iconic creatures a safe space to hibernate during colder months.
- Pond and wetland features: Our water habitats support frogs, newts, dragonflies, and more.
From the smallest bee to the biggest tree, everything in nature is connected. By protecting and supporting wildlife, we help build a greener, healthier future for animals, people, and the planet.
